FOCUS - Leslie Green © 6/24/11

Sometimes I wish hindsight was blind
Then I wouldn’t be tempted to look back
If we could take life’s lessons, learn and grow
And then forget about the pain it took to get to today
Then we would be creatures of optimism
Seeds that longed for water and sunshine
And not thinking about when we were just seeds
And if we planted ourselves in the right soil
So what if you were planted between thorns
    And not so fertile ground
We wouldn’t care about a clay foundation
Or even about the beautiful blooms surrounding us
Oh to concentrate on our purpose alone
To press against the wind no matter how fierce the storm
Are we not as instinctive as the Hereford Cow?
    Weren’t we fearfully made?
So then why do we consistently allow fear to paralyze us?
Because we “remember” and look back
    Curse the vision of hindsight
Who will invent the blinders of the past?
If I can find that remedy, I’d be wealthy beyond imagination
Because not one could resist the thought of living
Bondage free, shackle free of our past mental captivity
I’d be Brand Ambassador of Possibility
    Poster child of Hope
Founder of I Think I Can
Innovator of You Can’t Stop Me
    President of My Own Thoughts
Chairwoman of Society of the Unstoppable
Advocate for The My Steps Are Ordered Consortium
Die hard fan of the Full Speed Ahead Club
Chief Operating Officer of Bifocals for the Future
Author of the song I Can See Clearly Now
Yet we are already equipped with all the tools we need
The problem is we can mentally be our own mind eraser of angst
    We just choose not too
We instead look for some magical contact lenses
To paint a Rosey tint of perfection
Let me be your eye drops since you are allergic
The sting is much less than suffering from lifelong hay fever like symptoms
Of course should you choose to continue scratching your eyes
You will mess up your own mental cornea
I’m trying to get you to FOCUS
